Joint Academy Launches Two New Digital Programs: Fall Prevention and Osteoporosis Treatment

May 28, 2024

We are dedicated to helping more people live active lives well into their later years without the fear that movement may lead to falls and injuries. After extensive work, we are excited to launch two new programs: Fall Prevention and Osteoporosis Treatment.

These treatment programs are based on international guidelines, published research, and collaboration with experienced researchers in the field. Just like our other treatments, these programs consist of patient education, exercise, and regular follow-ups.

Fall Prevention

Approximately one-third of all individuals over the age of 65 experience at least one fall per year. Falls are the leading cause of injuries among older adults, resulting in significant healthcare utilization across markets. Joint Academy’s fall prevention program includes patient education on risk factors for falls, practical advice on reducing fall risks in daily life, and exercises designed to strengthen major muscle groups and improve balance.

Studies show that by participating in our balance training program and engaging with the provided exercises and information, individuals can improve their balance and reduce their risk of falls and serious injuries.

Osteoporosis

Osteoporosis, or bone fragility, is a serious condition that affects a significant portion of the population, leading to a high risk of fractures. Fragile bones increase the likelihood of fractures from falls, which can result in long-term health problems and reduced quality of life. International healthcare guidelines recommend that patients with an increased risk of fractures be offered physical training and patient education. However, evaluations indicate that only a small percentage of older adults with newly increased fracture risk receive exercise, fall prevention, or balance training.

Joint Academy’s osteoporosis program follows international guidelines, combining weight-bearing exercises with muscle-strengthening activities, balance training, and patient education. With the right treatment, individuals can strengthen their bodies and reduce the risk of both falls and fractures.
